“Art and Language” – a course for children and adults by Helena-Alexandra Reut.
This year we offer courses in two languages, English and Russian, for children 4-10 years old. Participants of all levels of language proficiency are welcome.
The program includes: acquaintance with the main stages of the history of art, genres and trends in painting, sculpture and architecture, not only in theory but also in practice. We make pharaoh masks and antique amphoras, build Roman castles, create Gothic stained glass windows, and erect a baroque city.
We will plunge into the diverse art world of all “-isms” (impressionism, post-impressionism, symbolism, Fauvism, abstractionism, cubism and others) and even try our hand at modern conceptual art!
We will learn about genres in painting, as well as about its techniques, and we will try all the materials – pencils, pastels, mascara, watercolor, gouache, acryli, oil and much more. We will learn about proportions, the golden ratio and perspective. Of course, the most fun part is colour science. We will glue, cut, sculpt, paint and write, and at the end of the year we will finish with a canvas painting and garden sculpture.
We wiill also discuss, advise and comment, and come up with new projects through talk and conversation in the language of the chosen course, because the second task of the classes is to speak! – encouraging the use of languages not only in everyday situations.
We will help each other, play, dress up in costumes, draw each other, and even sometimes dance – and of course, we will become good friends.
★ Small group setting (maximum 8 people).
★ We will make original art gifts for friends and family for all major festivals and holidays.
★ In warm weather, classes are held in the garden, which provides even greater opportunities for expression.
